Castaway Stories Worth the Dough

by Amy Tucker on February 27th, 2008

Sims-castaway-stories.jpgI downloaded Sims Castaway Stories and really enjoyed it.

So far, I’ve only played David’s story but I plan on playing Jessica’s story within the next couple of days.

My main complaint about the game was the length. I think David’s entire story took me about 8 hours to complete and once I “finished” the story I wasn’t very interested in playing the free-mode.

That being said, I think that Sims Castaway Stories would be a great “starter” game for someone who has never played a Sims game.

The system requirements are pretty basic and just about any household computer [or laptop!] should be able to run the game with few problems.

The keyboard shortcuts took a little bit for me to get used to since I always just use my mouse and the CTRL key when I’m playing my regular Sims 2 games.  But, the shortcuts weren’t really a barrier and I only mention them in passing because it was something new to me.  If you regularly use shortcuts when playing your Sims games then this probably won’t be an issue for you.

This was the first “stories” game that I’ve played and I liked that it was so goal driven.  The story moves along easily and I never got stuck where I had no idea what to do next.  I’ve gotta say that the “hints” aren’t really hints; they tell you what to do.  Think of them as an idiots guide to Castaway Stories.

I had tons of pretty screenshots for you that I had taken during the gameplay but for some reason, only two shots were saved and they’re really dark and not very interesting.

After I play Jessica’s story, maybe I’ll have solved my screenshot problem and have some photographic evidence of my exploits.

All in all, it was an enjoyable game and I think it was worth the money.
