I Finally Got The Sims Life Stories!

by leora on February 21st, 2007

It took me a lot longer than I would have liked, but I finally got my copy of The Sims Life Stories and it’s even better than I thought it would be!  I was expecting it to either run really slowly OR be a shell of what The Sims 2 is.  I was completely off base.  I’m not sure how they managed to pull it off but the game runs fast and smooth and feels and looks almost exactly like The Sims 2.  Here’s a list of pros and cons I’ve noticed so far:

Pros:

  • Extremely fast loading
  • Saving and quitting is also fast and easy
  • clear and smooth graphics that are high quality
  • The ability to have other windows open while playing so that you can chat with friends or check your email without quitting the game
  • If you have a cell phone you can use it on community lots and you can buy a cell phone form the inventory and don’t need to get it at a community store
  • Has battery information in the game for your laptop and warns  you when you need to save or plug in
  • It’s easy to play without an external  mouse…keys to change camera angles that are easy to use
  • Adds the option of a directed story which is good when you’re a novice to The Sims.  I managed to finish Riley’s story in a few hours though and prefer freeplay.

Cons:

  • You can’t take movies and pictures like with the older game (but you can take screen shots and paste them right into a photoshop window)
  • It’s not full screen
  • Only 4 members of a household are allowed at one time instead of 8
  • I can’t seem to find a way to download new clothes or create or share content like in the old game…maybe this will come along shortly?
  • No garages or cars
  • No University for your kids

All in all I would recommend this to anyone who has an older computer and hates the long loading times of the original.  This is perfect for someone who’s an IM addict like myself or as a gift for someone who’s never played The Sims before,  I’m not so sure I like the directed storylines, but there is always the option of free play so it doesn’t really matter.  Check it out now in stores.

I just got it too! I enjoyed playing Riley’s story but it got old after awhile. I was a bit relieved when it was finished. I think I prefer free play too!
