Woohoo We Have a Car!
The thing that was always missing from the Sims and the Sims 2 was vehicle ownership. I remember getting excited way back when hearing rumors of cars in expansion packs and I even downloaded cars that turned out to just be decoration. In the Sims 2: Nightlife Expansion Pack however Sims actually can own cars. I thought since The Sims 2: Open for Business Expansion Pack is coming out in just 8 days I should mention the benefits of the last expansion pack before it’s overshadowed by its successor.
As I mentioned earlier I was quite impressed by the new vampire characters in Nightlife, but I forgot to mention cars, dating and bowling! hehe
Ok to start off let’s talk about the cars. They’re fairly inexpensive to buy in Nightlife, I think the cheapest one is a bit over 500 Simoleons.
Here are my reasons why I think all Sims 2 players should buy cars for their minions:
- You can save a lot of time! You don’t have to wait for taxis if you want to go downtown.
- You don’t have to be on time to work, but still get paid the full amount! This is more like real life. A Sim with a car can drive late to work and won’t get punished as much as they would for skipping work entirely and will also not get monetarily penalized. This means if you’re having a great woohoo session with your Sim wife you can finish up, have a cup of coffee and then head off to work and still make enough simoleons for that sweet plasma TV you always dreamed of.
- DATING! Y’know when you’re a kid and you have to get your parents to drive you on dates? It’s so lame and you don’t have much freedom. That’s sort of what it’s like for non car owning Sims. They have to rely on taxis. With a car however there are tons of new dating interactions. You can get your date to come home with you and finish your evening up there…you can make out in your car…listen to funky tunes, and even steam up the windows and woohoo in your car! Plus Sim gals totally dig a guy with a sweet ride…
- You can drive your hoodlum no good kids to school when they’ve slept in or decided they don’t want to go. This also lets the kids be late to school without their grades dropping as much making a visit from the social worker necessary.
- Freedom! When your kids or spouse are driving you nuts you can take a spin around the block or hit up the hippest night club and drink away your troubles without time ever changing at home.
Next up is dating. In Nightlife you date and depending on how well it goes there can be rewards the next day. There’s a date meter on the upper right hand side while you’re dating and if you can keep your date happy and have an awesome date I’ve had Sims bring me gifts the next day! They bring really cool gifts like hot tubs and other expensive items that you can sell and even live off of. I think it would be a fun challenge for someone to try to have a Casanova sort of Sim who has no job, but dates Sims and gets the gifts to sell. If someone wants to try this and send me screen shots that would make my day!
Also you don’t have to go out and find a dating partner, you can call up a matchmaker. For a charge she’ll set you up with a Sim and depending on how much you pay her your Sim will be attracted to their date.Oh yeah and another new feature added to Nightlife is attraction levels. When you create a Sim you choose two likes and one dislike for them that define how attracted they will be to other Sims. In the friends bin you’ll see lightning bolts, the more the better, that show you how much your Sim is attracted to them.
So go out and date (preferably with a car) because it can be a great way to meet the love of your Sims life or to pay the bills!
Last but not least, one fun new item is bowling. Not much to say about it, it’s pretty self explanatory…your Sims have fun playing it…Bowling rocks!

I love the table interactions! “Feed Sim,” “Hold hands,” “Throw food,” — those little things! I LOVE it! I also love the photo booth. Those wacky poses make for great wall decoration. :)
